Welcome to the Project!

The purpose of this project is to address the recreational boating needs of the community by installation of a modern, two-lane boat launch ramp with boarding float, trailer parking spaces, vehicle parking spaces, pedestrian access and park amenities at Portage Cove Harbor. This project is the second phase of a multi-phase harbor expansion project currently being undertaken by the Haines Borough and aims to provide adequate parking and safe and efficient vehicular and pedestrian access for the boat launch and all existing and future planned moorage facilities at Portage Cove Harbor.

The project is being developed and partially funded under a cooperative agreement with the Alaska Department of Fish & Game (ADFG) under their Sport Fish Restoration (SFR) Program.

The project planning and design team is being led by PND Engineers, Inc. and Corvus Design is providing public involvement and landscape architecture services.
